Fall Back

I'm really glad that my computer, phone, and cable box knew today was Daylight Savings. Or well.. Daylight Doesn't Exist Anymore Day. It is now a quarter after 5 and it is pitch black outside. Bummer. I am not a morning person, i think everyone knows that. but i am definitely not, in any way, a 5 AM morning person. why would it need to start getting sunny out this early? the good news is our microwave clock is finally set to the right time. it has always been an hour behind since we moved in, we cant figure out how to change the time on the piece, but now we dont have to worry about it for awile again. or hopefully, we just get a new microwave. one that works faster than rubbing two sticks together to start a fire.

Halloween came and went. Trick or Treating was last Sunday here in Shorewood. I handed out candy while Dan and Brian watched football and ate Real Chili. what really bothered me was that i was in more of a "costume" than about 60 percent of the trick or treaters i gave candy to. i had on my orange and black beads, an orange ribbon in my hair, and my dangly skeleton earrings. i was pretty "tricked" out. get it? haha. here's what the percentages rounded out to: 40% had no costume, or maybe a mask only, which had been taken off before getting to my door. about 4% were older women coming up to get candy, not even in costume "to get candy for their kids" when there were none in sight.. i am pretty sure they just wanted the candy for themselves. maybe 5% had asked me if they could have more than one piece. another 12% had more than one bag, claiming they were collecting for another sibling who was too shy. and another 25% had the big boxes of Gobstoppers on top of their buckets, meaning someone on my block was handing out my favorite candy.. i was thisclose to going door to door to find who it was.. gotta keep that stuff in mind for every year. gotta remember who gives out the best candy and get there right away. i could have had 30% more people come to my door, but they couldnt figure out that if a house has two front doors, it is most likely a duplex. i was getting pretty bummed when i saw kids come up the walkway, then go to my neighbors door, get candy from them, turn, and go to the next house. DUH! even parents directing their kids from door to door were missing out on my treats.

then we had our halloween party at Bosley on the real Hallows Eve. our owner Michele did some fantastic decorating which puts my apartment to shame. real bad. it was pretty fun, except for the fact i was working, wanting to have fun like the rest of everyone in the restaurant. She even hired a fortune teller to do palm reading and tarot stuff. i wanted to get my fortune told, but dan wouldnt let me.. he said it would be a waste of money. i think the fortune teller lady would have told me "Your husband doesn't know what he's talking about." word for word. just like that... and prolly some other really cool stuff i'd like to know about my future. now i'll never know, thanks to dan. i made some pretty cool costumes, too. we had a couples themed costume from Revenge of the Nerds, where he was Lewis Skolnick in a pocket protector, nerd glasses, side parted and slicked back hair, hiked up pants, and the Tri-Lambda Sweater. I even made him a pie that had a lift up paper flap which looked like whipped cream, that when lifted said in the bottle of the pie tin "That's MY Pi!" which he didnt want to carry around. but i thought it was a really funny joke. I was Betty Childs in a pleated red cheerleader skirt complete with spanks, the Adams Atoms Cheer logo on my sweater, sneakers, red fingernails, and pearls. yep, i made those sweet, and almost exact replica, costumes. Go Katie!

I can't believe it is already November! and i almost completely missed out on the changing of the leaves. i jsut noticed today that they are all basically fallen to the ground. bummer. i hate fall. i guess i can really look forward to eating way too much for thanksgiving. its a fun time of the year.. i mean, dan and i will get to visit numerous families and have numerous awesome dinners. and i think i should have my girl scout cookies by then too! awesome!!!
