Mexico

so.. i've been slacking with the updates. not sure why either.. i dont do much! well, mexico was a blast.. a ton of waiting around in airports.. flights getting cancelled and milwaukee airports closing being an excuse as to why we couldnt leave. our first flight was cancelled because of the weather.. but really- they were missing a part to some door on the airplane and needed that off another airplane who couldnt land in milwaukee so instead, waited around in green bay. i dont know what good that does... coulda used a road to get the part from there.. you know- like, here, i'll call some people i know in green bay and meet them half way and bring you your door handle..? apparently not. then when we should have left mexico after our vacation.. couldnt land in milwaukee because of the fog. hello??? it is a day before christmas eve.. and i know a ton of people who traveled to milwaukee that very day by plane. they landed in chicago.. got put on a bus, and wah-lah.. nope- too complicated for the retards over at ryan international. well, all in all.. the trip was awesome! i had a great time haning out on the beach everyday with dan and my family. could have done without the bad management and bad food that made three of the seven of us ill. (yeah.. i had food poisoning and slept in the puerto vallarta airport. great fun.) our apple vacation representatives could have made everyone happy.. like a free hotel stay that night and free shuttle to it because we lost out on 2 days of our vacations through delays and the airline all of a sudden deciding to leave 8 hours earlier than what we planned and payed for. we could have stayed on the beach and left at 4 PM for our 5:30 original departure from mexico.. but they decide we needed to leave at 8 AM for our 9:30 flight.. which turned into 10:30 at the front desk, then randomly changed to 12:30.. our flight wasn't even listed on any of the screens in the concourse. no one had any clue which gate we were boarding from. the desk told us "A".. then we go into that.. and all of a sudden the gates are numbered "A-1" to "A-18" gracias, senor a-hole. someone had to go and find an english speaking worker to have it all figured out. we did get in line to board at, get this- 5 (which you know.. 5:30 ended up being the actual time our plane was leaving. coulda stayed on the beach. should have stayed on the beach. wish we stayed on the beach.) so we're acutally outisde in the fresh air.. ready to walk to the plane. oh no wait.. milwaukee airport is closed. go sit back down. we'll keep you updated. not one thing is announced over the loudspeaker. we go to the gate we were boarding at.. but the people working dont speak any english. i am still wondering how they can allow that in international travel? i mean, every person in the whole "Gate A" was english speaking. we finally do get an announcement and get back in line to board at 8.. we're all cheering, ready for our vacation to puerto hellarta to be over with. wait.. sit down again. we need to figure out if we can actually leave yet or not... turns out we couldnt. go pay $100 per person for hotel and $50 for cab ride there, or sleep in the airport. yay. thanks apple. never book a vacation through apple. they suck. but anyways.. like i said- we had a great time. we boogey boarded almost everyday. laughed as mom and dad tried it out... or just laughed everytime someone wiped out. haha. jorie had a crush on the boogie board guy. he had a curly fro type hair cut, with three rat tail dreads that were down to the middle of his back. eeeew. we went to punta de mita one day and ate lobster and shrimp on the beach. shopped a little.. from our dining table. they came to us! we didnt have to do anything but sit. we also went into the acual town of puerto vallarta. it started out fun. i liked the bus ride (though i thought i might die the way they drive.. and you thought i was fast? nah...) i liked seeing all the culture.. and yeah.. its the same as i saw in mexico city and in the yucatan. mexico is dirty. we ate lunch on the boardwalk. i had a whole red snapper.. face and all. though i didnt eat the face. eew. we walked around and looked at the shops. over rated. who wants to go visit another country to find.. oh- carlos junior and mcdonalds and hard rock cafe. i can do that here. dan and i got pick-pocketed somewhere on the walk. didnt even notice it. i was gripping my bag for dear life, so i knew nothing would be taken from me. but they reached INTO his pocket and pulled out the wallet. we lost our IDs, some random member cards to Qdoba and American Eagle and all that, 30 dollars in american cash, and our credit card. we got back to the hotel and called to cancel it, 2 and a half hours later. but thankfully- we had no charges on it. they had little shows they put on every night.. they were interesting. spoke screaming spanish so fast into the microphone.. i dont know if the mexicans in the audience understood a thing. i liked the buffet they had.. until the 3rd day. it got old. fast. i got sick off something.. not sure what it was. it didnt hit until the night we were waiting in the airport, it came out 3 times. so it must have been something i ate at breakfast... or dinner if foor poisoning goes back that fast. shea got sick also. she spent the last day of our vacation sleeping in the shade on the beach, and then in the hotel room past dark. there were beautiful sunsets. i really wish i would have woken up to see a sunrise. the pictures my sisters and mom took are amazing.. but i am not a morning person. at all. they saw whales just off the shore one morning.. but then we chartered a boat and we saw about 8, got pretty close to some too. so all was not lost. that day fishing was fun. we caught 63 mackeral.. and my mom caught a needle fish.. the first fish to be caught- and the only to be thrown back. haha. they made us wear wristbands showing that jorie was under 18 and couldnt drink, and black for me, dan, shea, and sam to show we were in the royal suites... so we had to sneak jorie in to stay in our room a couple of nights. we also had to sneak alcohol to jorie.. which wasnt hard. i dont think anyone cared. we all stayed out one night and took many many tequila shots. turns out.. jorie can hold her liquor better than shea. shea went back to her room and threw up.. and jorie, dan, and i went back to our room, ordered room service.. and fell asleep. haha.. i mean, called the order in and fell asleep immediately afterward. dan woke up to the knocking on the door... let him in, while he set up everything.. and jorie and i slept. dan ate a nacho and triend to eat a slice of pizza.. but went back to sleep. haha. we woke up forgetting all about it. my drink of choice was a mix of vodka, amaretto, pineapple and orange juice called the run runner.. or correcamino. but then i saw it later called the road runner.. so i just ordered it in spanish. that worked. i didnt speak much spanish. should have.. i've forgotten so much already, though. we've been back for three weeks, and i have no color or freckles left. i wore spf 4 for two days.. and nothing for the rest... barely burned.. barely got any color at all actually. whatever it was, its gone now. i'm pale like casper. i know its winter and all.. and its wisconsin.. but it does not look healthy to be pale. unless you're nicole kidman. she looks alright, kind of like an alien, but she pulls off the see through color thing. oh gee.. this is a long letter... i'll quit. i'll have to post again about christmas and new years soon... hopefully! i keep slacking!

i wish this week would go faster....

... and then next week drags by =) our "appple flight 1404" leaves at 3:55 on saturday... we dont land in Puerto Vallarta until 8:30, which is kind of a bummer- but i'm sure we'll still have fun our first night. i burned myself the other day tanning. tanning bed burns are so much more odd than normal sun burns. the skin doesnt get dry or peely. just tight, and feels like your clothes are giving you a rugburn whenever you move. it goes away and you'd never know you were burnt. but- it kept me from tanning yesterday. harry potter 5 comes out on video tomorrow! dan and i are going right away tomorrow- and also getting superbad. i cant wait to re-watch the two. oh yeah- we saw pauly shore the other night. it was a lot of fun. though i think pauly was on some major drugs.. or just pretty drunk- but what did you expect? i thought the opening guy was more entertaining for the most part.. i wish i remembered what his name was. he was really funny. we had a good time. =) it was kind of distracting that you could hear the bass pounding from upstairs in silk. and kind of annoying how some random loser guy was shouting out "do the weasel" throughout the whole stand-up. oh well, we drank a lot (which caused me to not remember all of the jokes...) but we had a designated driver, which worked out a lot because a cab would have been really expensive- and it is too cold to go hopping from bus to bus for 2 1/2 hours before hand. well, i should go get ready for the day.. we're gonna drop off some more applications in the bayshore mall area. wish us luck!

Getting Ready!

hey guys! i'll be waking up in less than 2 weeks in mexico! haha- dont mean to rub it in, but i am getting extremely super duper excited! i hardly have any time to prepare anymore. i've been meaning to go tanning lately- but i've been really slacking with it all. i'd rather not show up being all pasty and pale... and i know- i know.. tanning booths are bad for your skin. but i figure- since some people are outside all of the time.. say- in florida or california.. on the beach. my skin cant ever get as exposed as that. and even here in wisconsin, i dont get outside time during the summer.. i've worked through them all. i have always been the same shade throughout the year.. (unelss of course i start using the tanning beds.) but all in all- tanning cant really age my skin as bad as the sun should already have done.. or as bad as it could do.. right? =) haha... that's my story and i'm stickin to it! i'm also pretty thrilled about the fact that i now have a passport. i mean.. i never needed one before- i've been to mexico many times, but they didnt require a passport when i was under 18.. so you can imagine- this was a big step! i even went through my coin collection. (of which, my oldest US coin from 1885 is only worth $15.. bummer) i have about 155 pesos! whoo hoo! that should buy someone a pretty spiffy souvenir sombrero from a bargain roadside tienda! i dont know what i am going to look forward to after we get back.. i guess i should get more serious about finding another job and all. i'm confident- that in the right time and place- we'll find jobs and we'll be happy we took so long looking. there's another story.. and i'll stick to it!

well thats no fun

we didnt get to do our get-together last night.. we were expecting anywhere from 4 to 6 inches of snow. it looked pretty bad yesterday.. but it didnt turn out to be too much. it rained today. most of the snow is now gone. so thanks for ruining my first december weekend, wisconsin. haha. dan and i still met up with a couple of friends nearby, trusting the cab drivers to drive in the snow and slush. i'm not too sure why i decided it would be a good idea to go out in my crocks.. but while my feet were cold.. they dried right away, and dan had to stand in damp mushy socks all night. i cant wait for this smoking ban to hit milwaukee.. or just plain everywhere. a lot of people argue "oh- this is what bars were founded on.. drinking and smoking" well, okay- but generally.. people were stupid when it came to that. we didnt know anything about cigarrettes back then. and then the argument that "the bars would lose half their clientell" but i wonder... do they only come to your bar to smoke? no- they come to drink.. if after all these years of learning about how bad they really are for your body, and you still think you're too cool to quit, smoke outside. easy as that. you find that it is too cold for you to go outside? that's a bummer.. i find it too smoky in here to take a regular breath or even open my eyes. smoking stinks. anyways.. we're gonna reschedule the reunion thing. we just dont know for when. dan and i have the pauly shore thing next saturday- then we're in mexico for the next two saturdays.. maybe we'll shoot for the 29th. i guess you'll find out!

My December

even though i have a ton of things to look forward to this month.. it sure is dragging boringly by. first this saturday- i am putting together a "reunion" for all the ex-employees dan and i used to work with at mama mia's. we have a group of about 15 people whom we havent seen in months. it should be really fun! =) then the middle of the week next week- we're going back to my mom's for a day or so- run errands and things like that. on the 7th.. we're going to see Pauly Shore. haha.. not too sure why. i mean, when was the last time you heard of Pauly Shore? but we saw an ad that he was coming to milwaukee.. so sign us up of course! i always watch those comedy shows on tv, but i havent ever seen one in person. i plan to laugh a ton! i love comedians. then a week after that on the 15th- we're flying to Puerto Vallarta! dan and i, my mother, step-dad, sisters jorie and shea, and shea's boyfriend sam will all be staying at a resort having a ton of fun! i was amazed to see how cheap it all is! (heads up- expect me to try to figure out that slideshow thing for all the pictures once we get back!) my sisters and i are having fun looking at sun dresses. i have one coming in the mail.. i should get it by next tuesday. they didnt have it in my size, so i got one a size bigger.. i hope it fits decently- otherwise i have to return it and become one day dress shorter. i've been to mexico a couple times before- most recently was in highschool with some students from my spanish class. we started out in Mexico D.F. (mexico city) and saw tenochticlan, the bascilica de guadaloupe, and a bunch of other historical sites in mexico city. we went from there to stay with our travel families in Merida. toured ruins at Uxmal, Chichen Itza, swam in a cenote near Dz'itnup. went to an island off the coast from Cancun called isla mujeres. and somewhere in there visited celestun.. the flamingo infested island. it was fun.. and i look forward to maily relaxing this time instead of climbing pyramids in 110 degree heat. anyways.. we'll get back from mexico the 23rd.. and then of course comes christmas =) i love christmastime! i love seeing family and drinking egg nog.. and eating way too much. and christmas songs. i wonder if anyone carols anymore? i used to when i was growing up- with all the girls my sisters and i were in sunday school with.. i always felt uncomfortable doing it.. but we got cookies and milk at the nursing home.. so- all in all.. it turned out to be alright by the end of the night! and then comes new years.. i just hope i will be able to stay out all night for it. i cant remember the last time dan and i stayed out until bartime.. we've gotten close lately.. but always leave beforehand. which reminds me.. i can also look forward to getting my tee shirt i won off a miller lite bottle! they didnt ask for a size- so i am pretty sure it's a mens large or extra large.. maybe i'll figure out a way to hem it smaller. we'll see.. dan will most likely wear it for pj's or something. and oh! i'll be getting a job by the end of december (hopefully!) and all this time- you've been reading a pre-update on updates to come! hope you enjoyed!

i guess i'm a blogger?

i've never done one of these before, but if dan can do them, well then- i shouldnt have a hard time, should i? haha.. well, we're still looking for jobs. it just seems hard since christmas break is coming up- and in the restaurant biz.. students come back from school for a little over a month and want some money while they're here. hopfully- more positions open up if we dont find something before the holiday. we could be looking harder too i suppose. but we knew we wanted to be lazy for just a little while. bummer that our "relax" time is during november when we have nothing to look forward to. we get shorter daylight hours, and those hours just keep getting colder. i love being outside.. just not in november. or december. or january. or february. thanks wisconsin! but oh well.. i still love it here. i dont think i could leave. and there lies my problem. i guess in context i could look forward to some more of this global warming stuff.. but i cant actually admit that. ohh... a neat thing i came across the other day. there is this new website by Google.. it is called Blackle. and the website is just that. but apparently it saves energy because the background is black.. you can read about it on http://www.blackle.com/ and since my old homepage was Google, i changed it to this so that everytime i logon- i save a bit of energy. it kinda makes me feel a little bit better for myself. =) they have a list of little everyday things that you can do to help the cause. i even learned some stuff- like.. most energy is used to power appliances when they arent even in use! three quarters! i find the tips all affordable and easy to do. and i especailly like how the website keeps track of the watt hours saved right there on the homepage. there is also http://www.searchgreener.com/ which is basically the same thing, but they quote "any and ALL profit from your searches on searchgreener will buy carbon offsets, 100%! " so that is a good thing too. both are run by google. i am sure there are many others out there too. so- there's my randomrant. but now i have to go get ready for Conejitos! meet us there!
